Murder suspects killed in Florida car crash
A pair of Florida men wanted for their involvement in a murder case are dead after leading police in a chase that ended in a car crash. A third victim was also killed in the crash, while two more individuals were injured. One sustained serious injuries, with the other listed in critical condition. All individuals involved in the serious car accident were 18 years old.
While it is unclear whether the driver was one of the victims killed in the crash, the families of the other injured and deceased victims will likely want to know what happened and if they can hold anyone accountable.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred shortly after officers attempted to pull over a car they linked to a recent murder case. The driver refused to stop, leading police on a short chase before he lost control of his vehicle and careened off the road. The fleeing car then crossed several lanes of oncoming traffic before crashing and launching into a nearby canal. An officer with the Orlando Police Department said that in order for the car to have traveled so far after losing control, it must have been speeding.
Following the crash, victims' family members arrived at the crash site to see if their relatives were alive. Several onlookers broke into tears upon seeing the wreckage.
This accident didn't have to happen. Trying to flee from police is almost always a losing proposition, because even if you evade capture, you could still cause a deadly car accident. Thankfully no other cars were involved in this accident, but the end result was bad enough.
