Motorcycle accident leaves Florida woman dead
A 72-year-old woman is dead after her motorcycle was struck by a car as it traveled down a Florida highway. The driver of the motorcycle also sustained injuries. No charges have been filed, but the Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
Florida is home to a large number of motorcyclists, hosting as many as 500,000 motorcycle enthusiasts each year at the famous Bike Week. However, Florida's roads remain dangerous to motorcyclists, with many dying in accidents each year. While nothing can bring back the victims of these crashes, the families of such individuals may be able to recover compensation for their losses by filling wrongful death lawsuits.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victims were traveling south on a state highway when a car entered the roadway and struck their motorcycle at approximately 5:30 p.m. The impact threw the riders from their vehicle. The Highway Patrol's accident report indicates that both were wearing helmets during the crash. After the initial collision, the car struck a truck that was sitting at a stop sign. The drivers of both the car and truck were not hurt in the accident.
The woman, who was riding on the back of the motorcycle, died after her admission to the hospital, while the driver was treated for serious injuries. His current medical status is unknown.
According to newspaper archives, the woman moved to Florida in 1992. At around that time, her fiancé was killed in a motorcycle accident. Such crashes are frequently caused by negligent drivers who fail to notice motorcyclists or do not take proper precaution when sharing the road.
