Florida man dies after motorcycle crash

A Florida man has died after suffering serious injuries in a motorcycle accident. The 62-year-old victim's sister confirmed his death, the day following the crash. It is unclear what manner of injuries the man sustained, but motorcycle accidents can easily cause fatal brain damage, paralysis and back injuries.

Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that the crash occurred as the victim was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle along a highway around 3:30 p.m., following a pickup truck. The police report indicates that the truck's 40-year-old driver slowed down to make a turn, but realized his lane was being used by a car attempting to pass vehicles in the other lane. The driver slammed on the breaks, and the motorcyclist collided with the back of the truck. The motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle and over the truck in front of him.

The motorcyclist was rushed to a medical facility to be treated for his injuries, but succumbed to his wounds the next day. Neither the truck's driver nor his 15-year-old passenger was injured.

Following the victim's death, his Facebook page was filled with condolences from family and friends. One friend sent a message expressing her sadness at the news of the man's death, adding that his "passing has left a huge void" in the lives of those who knew him. The man's wife also left a message in remembrance of her husband, and another friend assembled a memorial video for the man and posted it online. He will clearly be missed.
