Cars with the highest crash risk that you should know about

iSeeCars.com researchers analyzed data from 2013-2017 to determine fatal accident rates for more than 25 million used cars sold in those model years, according to 24/7 Wall St. Researchers found 14 cars – subcompact, compact and sports vehicles – with a fatality rate more than double the overall average of 2.6 fatalities per billion miles driven. They are:

  1. Mitsubishi Mirage, 10.2 fatalities per billion miles
  2. Chevrolet Corvette, 9.8
  3. Honda Fit, 7.7
  4. Kia Forte, 7.4
  5. Chevrolet Spark, 7.2
  6. Subaru BRZ, 6.9
  7. Nissan 370Z, 6.2
  8. Nissan Versa, 6.1
  9. Kia Rio, 5.9
  10. Dodge Challenger, 5.8
  11. Chevrolet Camaro, 5.5
  12. Kia Soul, 5.3
  13. Hyundai Veloster Turbo, 5.3
  14. Nissan Versa Note, 5.2

“Despite recent advances in safety technology, our data suggests that small vehicles still aren’t as safe as larger vehicles when they are involved in serious accidents,” said iSeeCars.com CEO Phony Ly.

A Tragic and Painful Toll

In 2017, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 37,000 people were killed on U.S. roads and highways. The National Safety Council, which includes off-road vehicle accidents in its data, puts the number at vehicle fatalities at 40,100, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Common car accident injuries include:

  • Whiplash
  • Head and brain
  • Broken bones
  • Cuts and scrapes
  • Burns
  • Muscles, tendons and ligaments
  • Herniated discs
  • Eyesight loss
  • Hearing loss
  • Internal bleeding
  • Emotional trauma
  • Neck and back

Car Accidents Happen Fast, So You Should Act Quickly, Too

If you or a loved one has been in an accident involving a small vehicle, chances for severe injury are great. Someone can be out of work for a lengthy period of time, struggling to make ends meet as regular and medical bills threaten their financial health, too. The person who caused the accident may be refusing to accept responsibility. The court system is a confusing maze that almost seems intentionally designed to frustrate and discourage you. An insurance company may be pressuring you with a lowball settlement because they know you are desperate for money.

Instead of giving in, get even by hiring an experienced lawyer to protect your rights. The car accident lawyers at the Law Offices of Brent C. Miller, P.A., have been helping clients throughout Central Florida achieve legal and financial justice for more than 25 years.

With offices in Tavares, Inverness, The Villages and Clermont, they know the local court systems in Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, Orange and Sumter Counties. They know how to deal with insurance companies. They also know how to treat you as a partner, not merely a customer.
